Illumae ("we", "us", "our") is an SEO and AI content platform operated from the United Kingdom, accessible at illumae.io.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Illumae, including our website, dashboard, and any related services (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. The Service is intended for business and professional use, not personal or household use.
You are responsible for ensuring that anyone you allow to access your account (for example, colleagues or contractors) complies with these Terms.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.
Illumae provides tools to help you research keywords, generate content, monitor search performance, and manage SEO for websites ("Domains") you add to your account. Depending on your plan, this may include:
We may add, change, or remove features at our discretion. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes that affect your use of the Service.
Illumae uses third-party AI models (including models provided by Anthropic and OpenAI) to generate article content, suggestions, and other outputs based on information you provide about your business, brand, and target audience.
You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before publishing it. We do not guarantee that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, original, non-infringing, or suitable for your specific purpose. You should fact-check, edit, and apply your own judgement before publishing any content generated through the Service, particularly content making factual, legal, medical, financial, or safety-related claims.
The Service includes automated checks intended to flag content that may resemble AI-generated writing patterns or lack originality. These checks are provided as a guide only. They are not a guarantee of originality, and we make no representation that content passing these checks is free from plagiarism or will not be flagged as AI-generated by third-party detection tools.
We offer a free plan with limited functionality, including a limited number of AI article generations per account. We may change the scope of the free plan at any time.
Full functionality for a given Domain requires a paid Pro subscription for that Domain, billed monthly at the price shown at checkout (currently £40 per Domain per month, exclusive of applicable tax). Each Domain requires its own separate subscription.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us (via Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel. You are responsible for keeping your payment details up to date.
If a payment fails, we may notify you and attempt to charge your payment method again. If payment continues to fail, we may suspend or downgrade access to the affected Domain.
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings within the Service. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period, after which the Domain reverts to the free plan. We do not provide partial refunds for the unused portion of a billing period, except where required by law.
Removing a Domain from your account does not automatically cancel its billing. You must cancel the subscription separately.
We may change our pricing. We will give you reasonable notice of any price increase affecting your subscription before it takes effect.
The Service allows you to connect third-party accounts and platforms, including Google Search Console and website publishing platforms (such as WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, Webflow, and Ghost). Your use of those third-party services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights and permissions to connect any third-party account or publish content to any website through the Service.
You agree not to use the Service to:
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have breached this section.
You retain ownership of the content you input into the Service and, subject to the AI provider terms referenced below, the content generated for your account through the Service. You grant us a licence to host, process, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service to you.
Content you submit or generate through the Service may be processed by third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) and other subprocessors as described in our Privacy Policy.
Illumae, our logo, and the underlying software and technology of the Service are our property or that of our licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or branding without our prior written consent.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee any particular search ranking, traffic increase, or business outcome from using the Service. SEO results depend on many factors outside our control, including changes to search engine algorithms.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service, including third-party integrations and AI providers we rely on.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
You agree to indemnify us against any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you publish using the Service.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably believe your use poses a risk to us, other users, or third parties.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the account deletion option in Settings. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel active Domain subscriptions; you must cancel those first.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes, for example by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
