For Law Firms

SEO for Law Firms

Website audits, rankings, and legal-service schema built for how prospective clients actually search — not generic small-business SEO.

Illumae audits your firm's website for technical issues, tracks your backlink profile and keyword rankings, drafts fact-checked content, and generates legal-service structured data — all from £40/month.

Most prospective clients research a solicitor before calling — checking the firm's website for practice areas, fees, and credibility signals before enquiring. That means the firm's own technical health, content, and structured data matter, separately from your Google Business Profile and reviews. Illumae covers that website side: it isn't a Google Business Profile or review-management tool, and — for a regulated profession especially — it isn't a substitute for a qualified review of anything client-facing before it goes live. We'd rather say both plainly than let the positioning imply otherwise.

Structured data with a real Legal Service classification

The Schema Generator's Local Business type includes a dedicated Legal Service classification — with structured address (street, city, region, postcode, country), opening hours, and price range, not a flat address string or generic Organization schema. Paste the output into your site's page head to give search engines the structured, machine-readable version of the firm's details.

Catch the technical issues costing you enquiries

A site audit checks your firm's site for broken links, missing meta tags, slow-loading pages, and missing image alt text — issues that are easy to miss on a site that isn't looked at technically day-to-day. You get a health score and a prioritised, page-by-page fix list, not just a raw error dump.

Backlink monitoring, including spam risk

Illumae's backlink checker shows domain authority and spam-risk banding per link, and can generate a real, Google-format disavow file — we're upfront in-app that Illumae can't submit that file to Google on your behalf (there's no API for that), and that low authority alone doesn't mean spam.

Content for the questions prospective clients actually search

AI content generation drafts articles on the practice-area and fee questions prospective clients research before enquiring — each one run through a fact-consistency audit before publishing. That audit catches internal inconsistencies, not legal accuracy — a qualified review before anything client-facing goes live is still necessary, not optional.

Track the keywords that matter, honestly

Keyword research and rank tracking covers organic search terms — practice areas, fee questions, "do I need a solicitor for" guides — with real volume, difficulty, and intent data. This tracks organic rankings, not the Google Maps local pack; see the FAQ below for that distinction.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AI content count as legal advice, or check regulatory compliance?+

No — and this matters for a law firm specifically. Illumae's AI content generation runs every article through a fact-consistency audit (checking internal contradictions, arithmetic, unhedged claims about figures that change), but it does not verify legal accuracy, check regulatory marketing rules (such as SRA rules in the UK or state bar advertising rules in the US), or constitute legal advice. Every article needs a qualified review from someone at the firm before publishing — this isn't a formality we'd skip past.

Does Illumae manage my Google Business Profile or client reviews?+

No. Illumae doesn't include Google Business Profile management or review monitoring/response — a genuinely important part of a firm's local visibility, but a different tool. What Illumae covers is the firm's own website: technical health, backlink profile, keyword and organic ranking tracking, AI-drafted content, and structured data.

Does it track ranking in the local map pack?+

No — Illumae tracks organic (non-map) keyword rankings, for terms people search when researching a practice area or solicitor (for example "no win no fee solicitor" or "what does conveyancing cost"), not the Google Maps 3-pack. If local-pack tracking specifically is what you need, that's a genuine gap today.

What does the Legal Service schema actually do?+

The Schema Generator's Local Business type includes a Legal Service classification alongside structured address, phone, opening hours, and price range — the machine-readable structured data search engines use to understand what the firm is and where it is. It's real, mechanical groundwork for local SEO; it doesn't by itself guarantee local-pack ranking, which depends on many other factors including the firm's Google Business Profile and directory citations.
